The 2016 Compendium on Animal Rabies Prevention & Control, written by the National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians, Inc., offers recommendations for animal rabies prevention and control programs. As written, the recommendations serve as a basis for animal rabies prevention and control programs and facilitate standardization of procedures within the United States.
While the Compendium serves as the basis for rabies immunization law and regulation in most States, as published, this document does not replace State or local rabies law. Veterinarians should refer to the FAQ section of this website for information specific to individual States or contact the appropriate authorities for advice on individual cases.
